Switch Between Different Network Settings Easily Posted: 16 May 2010 10:25 PM PDT If you are a mobile user meaning that you have to travel between different networks to do your work, then you must be aware of the headaches of changing the network settings according to the new environment. For example, I have a laptop which I use in my office, at home and sometimes when I go to my friends. I have different security settings at home where as a different set of network settings are required at my office. Remembering and changing network settings every time I switch between networks is a headache. There are a few utilities that I have found useful which can automatically switch between different network configurations in a single click. Let’s go through all of them: Free IP Switcher
The first and the most widely used is the Free IP Switcher. This utility seems to be an All In One suite of network settings. You can configure up to 5 network configurations. Network configurations include IP address, subnet mask, default gateway and DNS server. In addition to this you can also change the computer name, workgroup and default printer according to each network setting. This utility differs from the Free IP Switcher in the sense that you can create as many network profiles as possible and then select any profile to use with one click but you cannot change the computer name and the workgroup.
