Farm produce prices up slightly last week

BEIJING, Nov. 20 (Xinhua) -- Farm produce prices in China inched up during the week ending Nov. 18, the Ministry of Commerce said Tuesday.

The wholesale price of 18 types of vegetables monitored across 36 major cities gained 3.8 percent from the previous week, the ministry said.

The wholesale price of pork, a staple meat in China, rallied last week, chalking up a 0.1-percent increase from a week earlier.

Meanwhile, eight staple aquatic products reported a 0.5-percent rise in wholesale prices week on week.

Retail prices of grain rose mildly last week, with the cost of flour in small packages going up 0.2 percent, and that of rice remaining unchanged from the previous week.

The retail price of rapeseed oil inched up 0.1 percent, that of peanut oil was unchanged and that of soy oil dropped 0.1 percent, the ministry noted.

Prices of farming materials and mineral products recorded lower prices last week, while energy, rubber and light industry raw materials saw upticks in prices, it said.
