岳阳是通江达海的现代港口城市。岳阳是湖南唯一的通江达海的出海口，扼守四水交通的咽喉，坐拥163公里长江黄金水道和洞庭湖60%的水域。隶属岳阳港的城陵矶码头是长江八大良港之一，现已开通岳阳至武汉海轮航线，城陵矶港由内河港变为海港，岳阳长江岸线变成了海岸线；实现了岳阳到日本、韩国、香港、澳门、台湾等国家和地区的直航。岳阳港口吞吐量列湖南第一、全国内河港口第七。
岳阳是文化深厚的现代旅游城市。八百里洞庭浩浩荡荡，岳阳楼闻名中外，屈原在汨罗江投江殉国，岳阳由此成为中国龙舟文化的发祥地，这里还有誉为“白银盘里一清螺”的君山岛，有誉为“天下第一村”的明清古建筑群张谷英村，有列入联合国湿地公约的东洞庭湖国家级自然保护区，有平江起义旧址、任弼时故居等革命纪念地，形成了湖湘特色的旅游品牌。
岳阳是快速发展的现代新型工业城市。岳阳是中部地区重要的石化基地、造纸工业基地、再生资源产业基地，是产业兴旺的现代新型工业城市。沿长江30公里纵深分布长岭炼化、巴陵石化、岳阳纸业、华能电厂等一批大型企业。全市现有规模企业1345户、上市公司10家、高新技术企业237家，工业经济总量居湖南第二。石化、食品、造纸印刷、电力能源、生物医药、机械制造、建材、纺织、电子信息与光伏、再生资源等产业集群发展，优势突出。
岳阳是资源丰富的农产品生产加工基地城市。岳阳依托丰富的农业资源，建成君山区万亩标准化蔬菜、汨罗市万亩金银花、临湘市万亩优质苎麻基地，积极开发平江县的油茶、临湘市和平江县的楠竹、岳阳经济技术开发区和岳阳县的时鲜瓜果等特色高效产业，全市现有农产品加工企业2617家，国家级、省级农业产业化龙头企业25家。世界500强泰国正大集团、国内500强中国种子集团、中粮集团、中纺集团公司、江苏雨润食品有限公司等一批龙头型企业相继入驻，农业产业化发展步伐稳步加快。

Brief Introduction to Yueyang City
Yueyang City is located in the northeast of Hunan Province with total area of 15,000 square kilometers, and it is close to the Yangtze River and Dongting Lake, which has a population of 550,000,000 million people. More than 2500 years glorious history made this historical cultural city world-famous. The Yangtze River and the Dongting Lake bred the city with heroic and vast, and the famous Yueyang Tower and the famous article filled Yueyang with the spirit of searching, innovation and patriotism. Yueyang, the center of Changsha and Wuhan City Circles, the bright pearl of the Yangtze economic zone, being the second total economy in the Hunan Province, now is accelerating its economic development under the bugle sound of the rise of central China.
Yueyang City is modern port city of convenient water transportation. Yueyang is the sole port access to the sea of Hunan Province and the throat of the four most important rivers, which owns 163 kilometers of gold channel of the Yangtze River and 60% water area of the Dongting Lake. Chenglingji Port, which is belonging to Yueyang City, is one of the eight best ports in the Yangtze River. It is the new opened sea vessel channel from Yueyang to Wuhan that turned the Chenglingji Port which used to be a river port to a sea port and also turned the Yangtze River shoreline to a coastline, realizing the direct route to countries and area such as Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan and so on. The throughput of the Yueyang Port ranks the first in Hunan Province and the seventh in the national river ports.
Yueyang City is a modern tourism city of profound cultural foundation. 800 Li (Half a kilometer) Dongting Lake with one climax following another, world-famous Yueyang Tower, The Miluo River where the famous poet Quyuan shots himself and the birthplace of Chinese dragon boat culture, the Junshan Island who gained the fame “An acmaea in a silver plate”, the ancient building group during the Ming and Qing Dynasty Zhangguying village who gained the fame “The best in all village”, the National Nature Reserves East Dongting Lake which was listed in the Ramsar Convention of the U.N., and the revolutionary memorial places such as the sit of Pingjiang uprising, former residence of Renbishi (A famous leader in Chinese Revolutionary Period) and so on form a tourism brand of unique Hunan characteristics. Yueyang City is a modern emerging industrial city. Yueyang City is the important petrochemical base, paper industry base and renewable resources industrial base, which is also a prosperous modern emerging industrial city. A group of large enterprises such as Changling Refining Enterprise, Baling Petrochemical Enterprise, Yueyang Paper Industrial Enterprise, Huaneng Power Plant and so on are distributed along with the Yangtze shoreline with the depth of 30 kilometers. There are 1345 scale enterprises, 10 public companies, and 237 high and new technology enterprises existing in Yueyang City, and Yueyang City ranks the second of total economy of Hunan Province. Yueyang City is an agricultural product processing base city with abundant resources. Depending on the abundant agricultural resources, Yueyang City has developed the characteristic efficient industries such as ten thousand Chinese acres of standardized vegetables in Junshan Area, ten thousand Chinese acres of honeysuckles in Miluo City, ten thousand Chinese acres of fine quality ramie in Linxiang City, active development of camellia oleifera in Pingjiang County and phyllostachys pubescens in Linxiang City and Pingjiang County, fresh fruits in Yueyang Economic Development Zone and Yueyang County, etc. There are 2617 agricultural product processing enterprises and 25 national or provincial agriculture industrialization leading enterprises in Yueyang City. Yueyang City has released a new bank-enterprise cooperation mode, accelerating the construction of investment financing platform of enterprise development, actively encouraging and supporting outcome investors to join in the construction and investment of municipal projects.
