China's quality watchdog on Friday said that it had stopped 1,859 batches of unqualified clothing last year. Some 22,472 batches were examined in 2013, and 8.27 percent of them failed to meet the quality standards, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (GAQSIQ) said in a report on its website. For labelling, safety or environmental protection reasons, the batches were either returned or destroyed, said the GAQSIQ.
