When you make a safety contact with an associate who is working unsafely,use the following process:
1. Observe, decide, get the person's attention, and stop the unsafe act in a safe way.
2. Start with a positive comment on what the employee is doing safely
3. Do not confront, avoid groups,stay on the issue
4. Discuss the consequences of the unsafe act (not the unsafe act itself) and safer ways to do the job
5. Get the agreement of the employee to work safely in the future
6. Discuss any other safety aspects of the job, and
7. Thank the associates for their time
