TrendForce said in a survey that the total shipments of all the Chinese smartphone brands in 2016 hit 629 million units, surpassing the volume of 519 million units jointly from Apple and Samsung, while the total shipments of global smartphone market in 2016 were 1.36 billion units. Chinese brands Huawei, OPPO and Vivo respectively took the last three spots in the global top five, following closely behind Samsung and Apple. The survey noted that Chinese brands are actively exploring overseas markets with better smartphone quality, capable of competing with Samsung and Apple. |
