In 2005, Kerr completed a PhD in Fine Art at the University of West England . Kerr is currently the President of the Royal West of England Academy . Kerr began her art career in 1978 as a print worker at Bath Printshop. From 1978-1983, she worked as a designer and layout artist at Bath Community Publications on a radical newspaper - Bath Spark. From 1980-1993, Kerr taught as a full-time lecturer in painting, printmaking and drawing at the City of Bath College. She also worked as a summer school tutor from 1982-1985 at the Open University. Kerr became an Royal West of England Academician in 2003 and was President of the Royal West Academy of Bristol in 2011 - 2016; she is an Honorary Royal Scottish Academician. Kerr is a Visiting Research Fellow in Fine Art at the University of the West of England, Bristol. Kerr's work has been featured in a number of solo and group exhibitions across the UK and in Norway. She is represented by Cadogan Contemporary Gallery, Kensington, London. Her work is held in a number of private collections in the UK, Europe, USA, SA and Norway.
