嘉中 编写 汉语中形容一个人“吝啬”、“小气”、 可以说他是“吝啬鬼”，“小气鬼”、“财 迷”、“守财奴”、 “一毛不拔的人”、“铁公鸡”、 “刻薄鬼”等。英语中也有不 少词语可表示“吝啬鬼”，“小气鬼”等意思。如：miser、penny pincher、 skinflint、meanie、scrooge、moneygrubber、niggard、tightwad 等，都是 形容一个人“吝啬”、“小气”，只是语气稍有不同。 miser 普通名词，表示“守财奴”，“吝啬鬼”等意 使用最多。 1）Mr. Thomson was such a miser that he wouldn’t leave a penny to his very wife. 汤姆逊先生是如此吝啬，连自己的老婆都不给留下一个子儿。 2）The older miser is obsessed with the fear that someone will steal his money. 这个老吝啬鬼怕有人会偷他的钱，这种恐惧一直困扰着他。

Why would a tightwad like you insist on paying? 今天是什么日子 啊 ? 你这个铁公鸡怎么会抢着付钱呢 ? 2）Bill's too much of a tightwad to ever lend you any money. . 比尔太吝啬，他决不可能借钱给你的。 3）It would have been much more comfortable for us to have a hotel room, but my Dad is too much of a tightwad for that. 我们要是住在旅馆里就会舒服多了，可是我爸爸是很会省钱。 cheap guy 指 小气的人，美国口语中的一个常用俚语。 1）Charles is a cheap guy !
