表示“许多”的短语可以分为三类: 1.修饰可数名词复数:a large /great/good number of，a good/great many ，quite a few，dozens of ，scores of 等。 2.修饰不可数名词:a good/ great deal of，a large amount of 等。 3.修饰可数或不可数名词: a lot of，lots of，a large quantity of，large quantities of，plenty of 温馨提示:1.a number of …表示“许多……，大量……”，作主语时，谓语动词用复数。而the number of …表示“……的数量”作主语谓语动词用单数。如果形容数量的多少，要用large，small或high，low不用many，few。 2.large quantities/amounts of…作主语时谓语动词用复数而a large quantity of ......后接不可数时作主语谓语动词用单数，后接可数名词复数时谓语动词用复数。 例如: The number of people invited to the party was fifty, but a number of them were absent for different reasons. 被邀请参加聚会的人的数量有50人，但其中许多人由于不同的原因而缺席。 Large quantities of information, as well as some timely help, have been offered since the organization was built. 自从该组织建立以来，提供了大量的信息以及及时的帮助。 注意:many a +单数可数名词，作主语时谓语动词用单数。 Many a student was late for class yesterday owing to heavy rain. 昨天由于大雨许多学生上课迟到。 |
