【原】can't 的展开形式，是一个单词的 cannot，还是两个单词的 can not

can't 是 can 的否定形式，它的展开形式既可以是一个单词的 cannot，虽然很多拼写检查程序认为 can not 是错误的，但它的展开形式也可以是两个单词的 can not，cannot 和 can not 的用法还是有很大的不同。

一、cannot 是 can't 的常见的展开形式，例如：

You cannot escape the responsibility of tomorrow by evading it today.

二、can not 也是 can't 的展开形式，但是这样写的主要目的是强调 not，且经常用在感叹句中，例如：

Conflict can not survive without your participation.

没有你的参与，冲突就无法生存。

I can not tolerate laziness!

我不能容忍懒惰。

三、不得不用 can not 的情形

当 can 与并列连词 not only … but also 连用时，不能缩写为 cannot，只能用 can not，例如：

Danielle can not only cook but also bake.

丹妮尔不仅会做饭，还会烤面包。

My dog can not only roll over but also play dead.

我的狗不仅能翻身，还能装死。

I like that people who are not experts can not only understand but also become engaged by my work.

我喜欢那些不是专家的人不仅能理解我的工作，而且还能对我的工作投入。

解析：not only … but also 用来连接和强调两个同等的成分，用来表示令人惊讶或是意料之外的事，而且后者的更为令人惊讶，它可以用来列出形容词的性质、名词或动词，以显示互补的性质、数量或动作、事件和状态。
