高速收费站的“ETC”到底什么意思？全称是什么？

经常开车的朋友，想必对高速收费站的ETC很熟悉了，它的中文全称是电子不停车收费。那大家知道“ETC”的英文全称是什么吗？

它的全称是 Electronic Toll Collection.

Electronic[ɪˌlekˈtrɒnɪk]表示“电子的”；Toll[təʊl]作名词时，有“(道路、桥梁)通行费”的意思。可能有同学会问，Collection在这里怎么理解？

答案是“fast”。

因为“fast”表示人或物体的运动速度很快，强调的是“速度”。“quick”强调的是“时间”，在短时间内，快速完成动作。

比如，一辆汽车在快速行驶；一个人在快速奔跑。这个时候，我们只能用fast而不能使用quick来表达。

His motorboat is very fast.

你走的很快。

而“quick”一般表示动作在很短的时间内，甚至是比计划时间更短的时间内，快速完成，强调的是“时间”。
