ea Tongeman, a 14-year-old student, who is crazy about the Intern
et, applied technology to create an application that encourages p
eople to recycle while having fun.Zea was really inspired when sh
e attended“Little Miss Geek Day", an event that aims at making te
chnology more accessible and appealing to young women and inspiri
ng them to consider technology careers. Soon after, she entered “
Apps for Good”, a competition that encourages students to create
positive change through technology. Teaming up with her friend, J
ordan Stirbu, she laid the foundations for“Jazzy Recycling”.The“J
azzy Recycling" application is designed to encourage young people
to recycle more, which wins the favor of the youth. It turns was
te disposal into a game and helps you find places to recycle. Then
you scan what you need to recycle, share it, and get rewards suc
h as shopping vouchers (代金券)and games to be unlocked for what you
have recycled.Tapping into the teen enthusiasm for sharing every
little aspect of their daily life on social media like Facebook,
Twitter or Instagram, recycling efforts can be shared too as a f
un game among friends, which makes more people take part in recycl
ing activities.Zea explains why she is addicted to the Internet a
nd how technology has changed her ideas about the future, “I used
to think technology was just fixing computers and using smartpho
nes; I have become very tired from just using what is available.
I have discovered another side to it and that I can make technolo
gy of my own.''In fact, Zea Tongeman has taken the idea of recycli
ng seriously and hopes all her fellow beings would give it a seri
ous thought. This teen girl from the United Kingdom has made use
of computer programming to create her own app that would encourag
e people to go recycling for a better world.24. What is "Little M
iss Geek Day”intended to do?A. To inspire students to go recyclin

mous young ladies.D. To get girls interested and involved in tech
nology.25. How does the“Jazzy Recycling”appeal to the young?A. It
combines recycling with fun.B. It offers money to those who recy

varieties of convenient services.26. Which of the following best
describes Zea Tongeman?A. Considerate. B. Generous. C. Creative.
D. Modest.27. What can we learn from Tongeman''s story?A. Teenage

Over the past few years, as architects and city planners have con
fronted the tragedy of our planet losing species at rates never s
een in human history, many have started designing more greenery i
nto urban areas, creating tidy plots of grass with non-native flo
wers. But European designers Hougaard and Qual find it problemati
c. These green spaces don''t actually encourage wildlife to grow.
To counter that, the designers created outdoor furniture that wou
ld be beautiful to look at, but also allow bugs, birds, and wildfl
owers to thrive, nurturing biodiversity in cities and rewilding u
rban spaces. The natural world tends to appear messy, chaotic, wit
h plants and animals interacting with each other. Bacteria, plant
s, and insects thrive in rotting logs. Birds and bees create home
s in dead, hollow tree trunks. Weeds and flowers grow in wild pat
ches of grass. People consider this as messy and dirty, trying to
get rid of them in cities despite the fact that even though wildl
ife appears chaotic, there is often method in the madness.Qual ha
d this in mind when creating a large, leaf-shaped insect hotel to
be placed on a flower bed.The structure contains wooden blocks w
ith different size of holes for different insect species.Hougaard
created a metal log bench with an empty space in the middle to p
rovide a habitat for creatures. He also created planting containe
rs without a base, which are placed right on top of the soil and
filled with different materials to provide a place for insects, r
eptiles, and small animals to hide and find food. They can also i
nteract with earthworms and other creatures in the soil underneat
h, creating a thriving ecosystem. Will people actually want to be
so close to bugs, snakes, and nesting birds? The designers acknow
ledge that modern humans have been trained to stay away from such
creatures. But these structures keep animals contained, while al
lowing people to observe and appreciate them safely. And ultimate
ly, humans need to become much more comfortable living alongside
wildlife.28. What do Hougaard and Qaul notice about creating tidy
grass plots in urban areas?A. It encourages the growth of wildli
fe. B. It keeps a more balanced ecosystem.C. It doesn''t increase
species diversity. D. It doesn''t damage the habitat of species.29
. What does the author intend to do in paragraph 2?A. To describe
the peace of nature.B. To introduce the law of the jungle.C. To
show the need for rewilding urban areas.D. To provide the basis f
or designing outdoor furniture.30. What does the underlined word“
this”in paragraph 3 refer to?A. The concept of order and messines
s. B. The goal to keep cities organized.C. The plan to design mor
e greenery. D. The tragedy of losing species31. What can we infer
about the author from the text? A. He is also a designer of inse
ct hotels. B. He is in support of Hougaard and Qual''s idea.C. He
is a strong advocate for a chaotic lifestyle.D. He is against kee
ping animals caged.DThe use of AI (artificial intelligence) is be

g. Traditional lines of work, such as goods transport and driving
, are developing in a similar direction although mainly out of pu
blic view. Scientists at the University of G?ttingen have now inv
estigated how efficient the use of AI can be in the commercial ma
nagement of trucks.“Digital applications- -as well as machine lea
rning, a kind of AI一 are increasingly applied to operations and c
ourses in the transport area,”explains Professor Matthias Klumpp
from the Faculty of Economics.“The question in the commercial are
a, however, is whether or not this contributes to achieving goals
."To answer this question, the researchers compared the work effi
ciency of truck drivers with their main use of AI applications. L
ooking at trade delivery by truck, they studied three groups: the
first drove completely following human decision-making models; t
he second used a combination of human and machine; and the third
depended completely on fully automated decisions. The researchers
found that an intelligent combination of human work and decision-
makingabilities with AI applications promises the highest transpo
rt and driving efficiency. “On average, the second group achieved
the most efficient transport trips, with the fewest intervention
s (干预) and off-course from the best path.” one researcher said, “
Clearly, neither a completely humandecision-making structure nor
a fully automated driving system can promise to meet current good
s transport requirements.”The scientists therefore summarized tha
t despite the progress of AI in the field of transportation by tr
uck, human experience and decision-making abilities will still be
necessary in the longer term. However, the challenge is that a w
ide range of training and qualification (资格)needs will come along
by working with AI applications, especially for simple goods tra
nsport activities.32. What does Matthias Klumpp focus on?A. The e
fficiency of AI. B. The advantages of AI.C. The problems caused b
y AI. D. The wide applications of AI.33. How did the researchers
get the finding?A. By listing data. B. By providing examples.C. B
y using different trucks. D. By conducting three experiments.34.
What can we know from the last paragraph?A. AI is better at makin
g decisions.B. A balance is needed between human and AI.C. Human
will soon be replaced by AI in driving.D. AI applications meet th
e current requirements.35. What is the best title for the text?A.
The future of transport.B. Artificial intelligence as a co-drive
r.C. Artificial intelligence-a better choice in driving.D. The st
rengths of artificial intelligence in transport.第二节(共5小题;每小题2分,满分
